Impact of the CCSSO IMPD Network (2024)

Access Resource

CCSSO’s High-Quality Instructional Materials and Professional Development (IMPD) Network, launched in 2017, supports states in ensuring that every student, every day, has access to meaningful, affirming grade-level instruction. The IMPD Network’s 2024 Impact Report showcases some of the results achieved by the 15 states active in the network that year. By focusing on the adoption of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) paired with curriculum-based professional learning (CBPL), states in the Network have accelerated progress in classrooms across the country. Today, more than 4.8 million students in IMPD states have access to HQIM in English language arts and 5.8 million in math. Several states, including Louisiana, Delaware, Maryland, Rhode Island and Tennessee, report more than 80% student access statewide in both subjects. Early efforts in science are also underway.

Further, 2024 RAND American Instructional Resources Survey data show teachers in IMPD Network states are using aligned curricula at higher rates than the national average. While work remains in supporting educators to intensively use their HQIMs, the IMPD Network is driving significant policy and practice shifts that are improving instruction, strengthening educator capacity, preparing aspiring educators and creating more coherent systems for student learning. Read the full report to explore each state’s unique strategies and the progress they’ve made to date.
